Floating Oak Stairs with Standoff Glass

Floating stairs are built to look weightless, and a conventional railing undoes that in one move. This Livermore staircase pairs white oak treads with a frameless glass panel on standoff mounts, so the guard is there without visually landing on the stairs.

What we did

• Templated the stair rake on site for an exact-fit glass run
• Mounted tempered panels on standoffs through the stair structure, keeping the treads visually floating
• Aligned standoff spacing to the tread rhythm so the hardware reads as intentional detail

The result

The staircase keeps its lines. Light passes through to the space under the stairs, the oak stays the focal point, and the glass handles the code requirements without asking for attention.
