Wood-Post Glass Deck Railing in the Pines

Glass Deck Railing · Sierra Foothills, CA · May 2026

Wood-post railing with glass infill panels on a composite deck surrounded by pine forest

Not every deck wants full frameless. This mountain property called for railing that matched the timber character of the setting, so the design pairs wood posts and rails with clear tempered glass infill panels.

The brief

The owners wanted the railing to feel like part of a mountain build rather than a city install, but they didn't want pickets or cable striping the view into the pines.

What we did

  • Built the railing around wood posts and top rails that match the home's exterior
  • Fabricated tempered glass infill panels sized to each bay
  • Set panel gaps and heights to residential guard code

The result

The deck keeps its cabin character, and the forest stays in full view through the glass. It's a good example of the middle path between a full frameless system and a traditional railing — and a more economical one, too.
